journal 3

This week we did begin to learn about different note notations such as whole, quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes. We also learned what a treble clef was and how to draw them as well as what notes are on the treble clef, which are CDEFGABC. Also this week we learned meter and that the top number is the beats per line and the bottom is the quarter note. Melody is the combination of various pitches that can be high, low or the same. We learned the placement of the notes on the staff.
Most of these concepts are basic fundementals for which music is built upon so these are the things that will always be a part of what we are learning or teaching. These are also important concepts for us to be able to understand so that we are able to teach these things to children. Everything we learn and teach from here on out are going to expand on the notes we learn, the notation, as well meter and pitch. We can learn to read music and play music on instruments by undertanding the notes and how much each note is worth. These are also reasons why we need to learn these concepts.
It is extremely important for kids of all ages to learn all of these concepts for the fact that they will need this knowledge in the future with music. Even if they are not pursing music any farther in life, this basic knowlegde can help them in so many other ways as wells. Kids can use the writing of notes to write music and also to learn to read music, then also can use these notes to play music.
